In 2008 Espiritu Santo Island gained the exciting and prestigious status of becoming a Marine National Park- it's now official!! Thanks to the tremendous efforts of several local and international conservation agencies combined with the Mexican authorities we are thrilled to have our 'local paddling area' placed under further conservation regulations. Ultimately, it means that we can expect to enjoy the pristine waters and spectacular marine life for many, many more years to come.

It is small wonder that not only is Espiritu Santo a national park but also a UNESCO site.

Few places in the world can claim such biological and ecological importance owing to its unique and incredibly diverse number of species many of which are endemic to the island.

If one were to dream up a perfect place to explore by kayak it may well look just like this marine national park!! Besides the wonderful snorkeling opportunities and possible marine mammal encounters, the geology is nothing short of spectacular. Deeply indented bays beckon for exploration and off shore islands are home to thousands of nesting sea birds which include none other than the Sula nebouxii....... the Blue Footed Booby.

The fascinating rock formations set in the volcanic cliffs change color from frail pinks to deep ochre as the Baja sun describes its predictable cycle.
